AI for Good Innovate for Impact

1. Introduction

The AI technology is driving a technological revolution, impacting the global economy and 1-Introduction
society. A wide range of sectors, including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing,
agriculture, education, intelligent transportation, 5G networks, and climate change are
achieving tangible benefits from integration of AI techniques. These benefits include user
friendly applications and services, better usability and performance, availability and agility
of services, in addition to better manageability. However, alongside these benefits, experts
caution about challenges such as the widening digital divide and the perpetuation of social
and algorithmic biases.

To tackle these issues, ITU launched AI for Good Innovate for Impact project initiative under
the AI for Good platform. This initiative facilitates sharing of use cases, impactful AI applications
and global lessons and expertise from around the world. In 2024, our initiative received positive
feedback from both scholars and project contributors, highlighting the value of the selected
AI use cases in addressing real-world problems using AI.

Building on this success, we continued the initiative in 2025 by reissuing the call for AI use
cases and the call for AI scholars. In addition, to enhance the scientific rigor of the evaluation
process and provide more structured support to participating scholars, we established a new
Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) composed of experts from various domains. The calls
