IOT-based projects
Various projects have been implemented using the power of IoT devices and sensors deployed
throughout the city.

• Air quality index and air pollution monitoring
• Wearable devices like the Smart Health system
and indoor tracker
• Traffic, vehicle and parking space monitoring
• Water resource and drainage management
Using the ‘ap.mashhad.ir’ website allows citizens to obtain various kinds of urban information;
for instance, the air quality index in different parts of the city, traffic conditions, bus routings, bus
locations, bus arrival times, public parking free spaces, COVID-19 medical centres and various
places in the city that are updated by crowd sourcing method, and much more urban information.

Mashhad has implemented a 4th generation
shared-bicycles programme.
4th generation programmes are defined by
real-time availability and GPS tracking bicycles.
This allows citizens to locate a bicycle on a map
through GPS trackers on the bicycle, make a
reservation, use the bicycle and then lock it down.
