Riyadh reports an average annual household income of USD 23 772, in line with the median
self-reported gross national income of USD 24 980. Of this, less than a quarter is spent on housing

expenditure. Compared to the prescribed maximum range of 25 per cent to 30 per cent, and the OECD
average of 20 per cent, this rate of housing expenditure is positive, but must continue to be monitored

to ensure that it remains sustainable.
