At the kind invitation of the Government of Cuba, ITU-T is organizing a two-day Seminar on “ITU-T Standardization and other key ITU Activities”. It will take place in Havana, Cuba from 8 to 9 February 2011 in the context of the XIV International Convention and Fair INFORMATICA 2011 (Habana, 7-11 February 2011) (http://www.informaticahabana.cu/en/home).
Objectives
The seminar is designed to present the activities undertaken after WTSA-08
and some of the main results of the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2010
(Guadalajara, Mexico, October 2010) in reply to the standardization needs in
the Americas region.
Key activities to be addressed will include conformance, interoperability,
capacity building and test centers in the region. There will also be focus
on the International Telecommunication Regulations (ITRs) and the World
International Conference on Telecommunications (WCIT) in 2012.
Other hot topics such as Accessibility, Climate Change, costs for
International Internet Connectivity (Recommendation ITU-T D.50) will also be
addressed together with the main measures taken by the ITU Standardization
Sector (ITU-T) to bridge the standardization gap in developing countries.
Audience
The event is addressed to administrations and public institutions, operating companies, service providers, vendors, manufacturers, regulators, test labs, certifiers, organizations from developing countries and civil society.
