11:15 - 13:45 SESSION 1: Real-time conferencing / conversation

Chairman: Pierre-André Probst (SG16 Chairman) [ BIO ]

Objectives:This session focuses on the question whether with the emergence of the Next Generation Network (NGN) there will be a 3rd generation of ITU-T defined Multimedia Systems and Terminals (dubbed H.325). And if so, how it would look like. A key point to discuss will be whether such new generation system would use the "aging" H.323 and SIP protocols, or would define and use a completely new protocol stack?

14:45 - 16:30 SESSION 1 continued:

Objectives:A lot of new, interesting multimedia communication development is happening currently on the internet. Some of them are based on specifications developed by SDOs and Forums; others are "de-facto" standard based on successful applications. This session will introduce and discuss about them.

16:30 - 17:15 Panel discussion: What is next? – per theme of the conference

Objectives:A panel of speakers of the day would discuss with the audience the issues raised in previous sessions, and attempt to draw conclusions for future trends and standardization needs.

8:30 - 9:30 SESSION 2: IMTC Award

Objectives:As a traditional ceremony of IMTC Forum, Each year awards are given to those individuals and/or groups that have shown outstanding leadership in the field of Multimedia Communication. One of the award recipients will address the workshop with a Keynote Speech.

Chairman: Dave Lindbergh (SG16 Vice Chairman) [ BIO ]

Objectives: This session introduces the latest development of Media Coding (such as Audio, Speech, Video and Still picture). Special attention will be given to the issues of media coding related to the NGN.

Objectives: IPTV is an attractive multimedia application that is currently getting a lot of attention. The goal of this session is to introduce important development and standards in the field in order to find out what ITU-T and IMTC might do in this evolving area.
