Addressing the aftermath goes beyond immediate emergency telecommunication assistance. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) plays an important role in assisting Haiti in the reconstruction of its telecommunications infrastructure in alignment with the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) Resolution 60 (Hyderabad, 2010).
