Robi Axiata Limited (formerly known as Axiata (Bangladesh) Limited) is a dynamic and leading countrywide GSM communication solution provider in Bangladesh with more than 10.96 million subscribers as of 31st May 2010 . It was awarded the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Award 2010 for “Emerging Market Service Provider of the Year”. Mr. Supun Weerasinghe has been Chief Executive Officer of Robi Axiata Limited since January 1, 2014 and serves as its Managing Director. Mr. Weerasinghe served as a Chief Strategy Officer of Robi Axiata Limited. Mr. Weerasinghe served as Group Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the Network Transformation Strategic Business Unit at Axiata Group Berhad since Apri 2013. Prior to Axiata, Mr. Weerasinghe served as the Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), of Dialog Axiata Plc, where he was he instrumental for the turnaround of the Dialog Group. Prior to that, he led the number one mobile operator in Sri Lanka, Dialog Mobile as Chief Executive Officer. He has over 15 years of experience in technology related business management ranging from end-to-end business operations, design and sustainable development of new products and businesses, telecoms M&A, business transformation, investor relations and regulatory affairs. Mr. Weerasinghe is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom, and holds a Bachelor of Science (First-Class Honours) in Accountancy and Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He also has an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney, Australia and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School (AMP 182).
