TelOne (Pvt) Limited

TelOne (Pvt) Limited is the government-owned communications company of Zimbabwe. Tel•One is the biggest telecommunications network in Zimbabwe committed to provide Internet, Telephone, Fax, Data and Satellite Communication Services available. Tel One provides an internet hub through its Com-One subsidiary for all the other ISP’s. The company is not part of ZISPA, Zimbabwe Internet Service Providers Association, but it provides bandwidth to most other ISPs in the country. In April 2009, a price hike affected both individual Internet subscribers and Internet cafés throughout the country. In June 2009, the country’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology ordered TelOne to lower its prices; the government then announced plans to privatize the company as part of its attempt to revitalize the country’s economy.

Chipo Mtasa

Chipo Mtasa is the Managing Director of TeleOne (Pvt) Limited. A chartered accountant by profession, Mrs Mtasa is the former Rainbow Tourism Group chief executive. She resigned last year after eight years at the helm of he hospitality group. Mrs Mtasa also served as president of the Zimbabwe Council of Tourism in 2008, among other roles in the tourism and hospitality industry.. She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is a Chartered Accountant (CAZ). She joined the Group in 1999 as Financial Controller at the Sheraton Harare Hotel and became Group Finance Director in 2002. She assumed the position of Group Operations Director before her appointment as Group Chief Executive of RTG on October 1, 2004. Ms. Mtasa sits on a number of boards including that of Inter-Fresh Limited. She also serves as Member of the Remuneration and Nominations, Audit and finance, and Marketing Committees.
