The UKTA is a not for profit organisation made up of a number of member UK companies, organisations and institutions and possesses a proven track record for developing relationships within the communications industry in the UK and throughout the World. The UKTA is proud to be a sector member of the ITU for both ITU-T and ITU-D and sees its strong bond with ITU as a catalyst to further ‘knowledge transfer’ globally but, in particular to Africa and China in an effort to support the achievement of many HRD millennium goals. Testament to this work is the relationship that UKTA has established throughout the Africa region with Kigali Institute of Science & Technology already producing some forty three outstanding graduates.
David worked in the Telecommunications Industry for over 40 years prior to taking early retirement from Cable & Wireless. As Chairman of the United Kingdom Telecommunications Academy he has had occasion to visit over 120 Countries and has been actively involved with the International Telecommunications Union since 1994. Taking the role of Chairman of ITU-TDAG from 2003-06 and more recently appointed by the Secretary General as his Special Envoy in respect of Academia. David is currently a Visiting Professor to Universities in China, Rwanda, Tanzania and UK covering Legal and Business Management at Masters Degree Level.
