to debate
future of ICT sector at ITU Telecom World 2014
Focus on radical transformation of sector, its impact on government,
business and society
Geneva, 16 October 2014 – An impressive line-up of
industry experts and public and private sector leaders will convene to
explore the future of the ICT sector and its implications for government,
business and society at ITU
Telecom World 2014, the leading platform for debate, networking
and showcasing for the global ICT community, in Doha, Qatar, 7 – 10 December
2014.
Visionary speakers include Hessa Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Information
and Communication Technology, Qatar; Omobola Johnson, Minister for ICT,
Nigeria; Jean Philibert Nsengimana, Minister of Youth and ICT, Rwanda;
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman, Ooredoo; Michel
Combes, CEO, Alcatel-Lucent; Eric Loeb, Vice-President, International

“The quality and breadth of world-class speakers gathering at ITU Telecom
World 2014 will provide expert insight and analysis of the ICT sector at
this critical period of transformation," said ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun
I Touré. “The event promises to be a uniquely important opportunity to
harness the potential of ICTs to shape our future.”
Held under the theme “Future in Focus”, debates will centre on three core
topics: industry disruption, cross-sector partnerships and the intelligent
future, each examined from the contrasting perspectives of business,
technology and policy. Sessions include:
Kick-starting the event is a one-day
Leadership
Summit on the Future, an exciting, interactive journey into the
near future led by expert futurists from multiple disciplines, offering
leading decision-makers from government and industry a clear understanding
of how the world, and the ITU industry, is being transformed – from
artificial intelligence to big data analytics, IoT, augmented humanity, SDN,
the shared economy and hyper-connectivity.

Media Note: Media accreditation for ITU Telecom World 2014, 7-10 December
2014, enables free access to the event for registered media and analysts.
Accreditation is compulsory. UN Press accreditation is valid, but
registration is required to obtain an event badge.
Journalists and analysts who have formally accredited for ITU events in
2014 and whose details have not changed during this period do not need to
re-submit accreditation credentials, but still need to register for an event
badge.
Accreditation and registration for ITU Telecom World 2014 in advance is
