Sector de Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones (UIT-D)
La función del Sector de Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones (UIT-D) consiste en facilitar y mejorar el desarrollo de las telecomunicaciones mediante actividades de asesoramiento y asistencia técnica directa. En el marco de sus actividades, el Sector proporciona asesoramiento en materia de política, reglamentación, financiación de las telecomunicaciones, opciones tecnológicas de bajo costo, y ofrece asistencia en la gestión de recursos humanos y la elaboración de iniciativas encaminadas al desarrollo rural y al acceso universal. Mediante todas esas actividades, el Sector de Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones y su órgano ejecutivo, la Oficina de Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones (BDT), insisten principalmente en fomentar asociaciones con el sector privado, a fin de encauzar el impulso comercial del sector hacia las necesidades de las naciones en desarrollo.
