Bahamas to host prestigious global symposium for ICT regulatory community

Media accreditation is now open for ITU's annual Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-17), the world's pre-eminent gathering of the global information and communication technology (ICT) regulatory community.

Taking place 11-14 July under the theme "Living in a World of Digital Opportunities", the event is being organized by ITU in collaboration with the Government of the Bahamas at the Atlantis Conference Center, Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Media are invited to attend the symposium's opening and closing sessions, as well as a special pre-event taking place 11 July, organized as part of the Global Dialogue on Digital Financial Inclusion, with a focus on the security of digital finance services.

Journalists are encouraged to accredit now to attend this globally recognized symposium. Formal accreditation prior to the event is essential to gain access to the venue.

Accreditation will close on Friday, 7 July and there will be no accreditation onsite.

What: 17th Global Symposium for Regulators

When: 11 – 14 July 2016. Open to media on 11 July, 12 July until 13:30 only.

Where: Atlantis Conference Center, Paradise Island, Bahamas

Why: Regulatory agency leaders and top government policy makers from around the world will debate the challenges and opportunities around promoting greater digital inclusion

Who: Leaders from the global regulatory community, industry bodies and the private sector, including ITU Secretary-General Mr Houlin Zhao, Director of ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau, Mr Brahima Sanou, and other leading dignitaries.
