ITU and the Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Belarus signed a cooperation agreement at Telecom World in Bangkok yesterday to collaborate in performing measurements related to cases of harmful interference with satellites.
"This cooperation agreement will benefit the entire community of satellite users in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia to resolve cases of harmful interference between satellite systems," said Houlin Zhao, ITU's Secretary-General. "Implementation of ICTs by international standards are key to achieving the SDGs."
"The agreement with Belarus will also greatly contribute to ensure a more efficient, effective and equitable use of spectrum/orbit resources, which are managed by ITU on the basis of the Procedures of the Radio Regulations" said Mr Rancy, Director, Radiocommunication Bureau, ITU.
The ITU Radiocommunication Sector works to ensure rational, equitable, efficient and economical use of the radio-frequency spectrum by all radiocommunication services, including those using satellite orbits, and to carry out studies and adopt recommendations on radiocommunication matters.
