Contribution : ITU's Role in Building the Knowledge Base and Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure for Youth Led Civic Engagement in Local and Global Sustainable Development Action: Efforts of United Nations System in the field of Sustainable Development (SDGs), post2015 development agenda, climate change etc.need to engage all relevant actors - including global citizens/youth, local communities/cities, private sector, etc - and their resource use decisions towards globally agreed (UN) goals in order to be successful. The key for this are innovative and interoperable information management systems that document and incentivize local and global sustainable development action. ITU can play are crucial role in getting such decentralized self-organizing global/local e-governance information system in place by facilitating global standard setting and interoperability of global challenges related ICT systems building on Open Government Data, Big Data, GIS systems, participatory evaluation, etc. - Breaking down silos! connecting information systems for global challenges! Thus providing the basis for the development of tools and campaigns for mass mobilization and large scale Resource Mobilization for Sustainable Development Goals Implementation A future ITU strategic focus 2016-19 can build on the very relevant work of http://innovation.itu.int/ with BYND2015 Global Youth Summit as highlight and Focus Group on Smart Sustainable Cities http://www.itu.int/en/ITU-T/focusgroups/ssc/Pages/default.aspx In order for ITU to transcend institutional barriers and for getting global youth engagement, IAAI www.glocha.info, an ECOSOC accredited knowledge focused civil society organization from Klagenfurt/Austria, is offering ITU strategic partnership in the context of its plan to establish a "Global Youth Innovation and Participation Center" in Klagenfurt/Austria.which will serve - together with Global Challenges Centers for local level sustainable development goals implementation nodes all around the world - as a global Research, Technology Development and ICT access hub hub for youth focused e-governance innovation.
