Call for Expressions of Interest

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies, with the mission to connect the world.

The ITU calls for expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to serve on the Independent Management Advisory Committee (IMAC). The IMAC serves in an expert advisory capacity and assists the ITU Council and the Secretary-General in fulfilling their governance responsibilities, including ensuring the effectiveness of ITU’s internal control systems, risk management and governance processes. The IMAC will be composed of five independent expert members serving in their personal capacity for a term of four years, as from 1 January 2020.

As a member of the IMAC, you will be required to provide advice on ​the following areas of operations:
1. Internal Audit Function;
2. Risk Management and Internal Controls;
3. Financial Statements;
4. Accounting;
5. External Audit; and
6. Evaluation.

The Terms of Reference of the IMAC and the process for selection of its members can be found in Resolution 162 (Rev. Busan, 2014).

Members of IMAC will provide services pro bono. In accordance with the procedures applying to appointed staff of ITU, members of IMAC shall receive a daily subsistence allowance; and those not resident in the Canton of Geneva or neighboring France shall be entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses, to attend IMAC sessions.

Applicant should possess a significant experience in one or more of the areas of operations referred to above and should have a very good knowledge of English. Knowledge of one additional official language of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) would be an advantage.
