Youth, Innovation and Academia

Young Innovators Competition

Young Innovators.jpg Launched in 2010, this annual competition seeks out talented young thinkers and social "technopreneurs" across the globe and encourages th​​em to showcase their innovative ideas at the InnovationSpace, a dedicated show floor pavilion at ITU Telecom World. The competition offers these young thinkers the chance to take part in workshops on entrepreneurial skills and provides them with opportunities to meet and network with leading ICT players. Digital Inclusion for Youth

Digital Inclusion.jpgITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) promotes school connectivity, digital literacy skills, and ICT-enabled employment opportunities for youth, including encouraging more young women and girls  ​ t​o ​​prepare for and enter careers in the ICT sector. Young ICT Policy Leaders programme

The Young ICT Policy Leaders (YIPL) programme encourages youth participation through national delegations at key ITU conferences and events.  The programme is designed to engage and empower the next generation of ICT policy makers, through knowledge and skills exchange, peer-to-peer mentoring and direct exposure to experienced leaders with a proven record of consensus building and consolidation. Girls in ICT
ITU is committed to championing the catalytic role a tech career can play in creating exciting, far-reaching opportunities for women and girls. To help inspire girls to consider a future in technology, ITU hosts an annual 'Girls in ICT Day' on the fourth Thursday in April with support from collaborators around the world.

#BYND2015 Global Youth Summit

The BYND2015 Global Youth Summit took place from 9 to 11 September 2013 in San Jose, Costa Rica. During the Summit, ITU engaged with a worldwide community to gather their opinions and ideas on how technology can contribute to a better world and shape the post-2015 development agenda.
