ITU and Czech Technical University sign new partnership to improve skills in spectrum management

On 9 December 2015, ITU and the Czech Technical University (CTU) signed a cooperation agreement to collaborate on a Spectrum Management Training Programme (SMTP).

The objective of the project is to improve the competencies and knowledge of professionals working in the area of spectrum management.

The training programme will be delivered online through the ITU Academy, as well as face to face training at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

"ITU has enhanced its collaboration with Academia to harness their expertise in the field of ICTs and especially in the delivery of technical, development and managerial skills," said Mr Brahima Sanou, Director of the ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT). "I believe this collaboration with CTU will go a long way towards the development of a vibrant ICT sector and in making a difference in people's lives."

"The ever-expanding variety of ICT services and applications is placing greater demand for spectrum," he added. "This training programme will help ITU Member States enhance their knowledge and skills in the management of this scare resource."

Prof. Petr Konvalinka, Rector of the Czech Technical University said, "this agreement will nurture opportunities for further collaboration with ITU and, in particular, in the delivery of academic programmes that enhance the development of the ICT sector."

The signing ceremony was also attended by H.E. Jan Kára, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic in Geneva.

The ITU Academy is a BDT initiative intended to harmonize and integrate the organization's training activities and make available ICT education, training and development opportunities at the highest possible levels of quality.

The Czech Technical University in Prague was founded 1707.
