Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI)

The 6th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 23-25 September 2015. The meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by ITU. The EGTI meeting was held back-to-back with the 3rd Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH), which took place also in Geneva, Switzerland, on 22-23 September 2015.

EGTI meetings are open to all ITU members and experts in the field of ICT statistics and data collection.

The objective of this 6th EGTI meeting was to examine the contributions received from members of the EGTI online discussion forum over the current working period, with a view to finalizing the items under discussion. The outcome of the discussions was subsequently presented at the 13th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS), which was held in Hiroshima, Japan, from 30 November to 2 December 2015.

The main topics discussed during the EGTI meeting included, among others: the classification of wireless-broadband services; subscription data on advanced mobile-broadband technologies; indicators on m-banking services; separate telecom data on organizations/individuals; and other administrative data sources, such as over-the-top service providers.

The documents concerning the meeting, including the briefings of the discussions in the online forum and the presentations delivered during the meeting, are available in the EGTI online forum: http://www.itu.int/net4/ITU-D/ExpertGroup/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=20
