ITU Regional Forum on “Use of ICTs for Transition to Smart and Sustainable Development”, Khartoum-Sudan, 12-13 December 2016

The Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union and in collaboration with the Sudatel Telecommunications Academy "SUDACAD", will organize the ITU Regional Forum on "Use of ICTs for Transition to Smart and Sustainable Development". The Forum will be held in Khartoum-Sudan, 12-13 December 2016.

The overall objective of this Forum is to raise awareness on the role of ICTs as tool and enabler for three key pillars of sustainable development (economic development, social inclusion and environmental protection) and as key catalysts and crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among other issues related to the use of ICT for development, the below themes will be covered during the Forum:

  1. The ITU Smart Sustainable Development Model (SSDM);
  2. ICT Polices and strategies for transition toward smart and sustainable development;
  3. ICTs for Climate Change adaptation and mitigation;
  4. ICTs for disaster management;
  5. ICTs generated e-waste from policy prospective (Green Environment);
  6. Smart, sustainable and green cities in the Arab region: Towards gradual transformation of Arab cities to smart and sustainable cities;
  7. ICTs and Economy (Green Economy);
  8. ICTs for clean and sustainable energy.
