Lome, Togo; 9-13 September, 2019

Introduction 

Regional Economic Dialogue on Telecommunications/ICT for Africa (RED-AFR19) and the Workshop on economics, finance and business models for 5G and new technologies organized by the International Telecommunications Union, will take place in Lome, Togo, fr​om 9 to 13 September 2019. These events are organised by the ITU Telecommunications Development Bureau (BDT) in close collaboration with with Autorité de Réglementation des Secteurs de Postes et de Télécommunications (ARTP). These events are in line with ITU’s commitment for universal access to affordable and secure broadband services and Resolution 25 and 37 of World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC-17), Bueno Aires Declaration on bridging of the digital divide and increasing cooperation between member states, sector members and associates for an inclusive ICT growth. 

Objectives 
RED-AFRI19 

​RED-AFR19 will focus on topics of interest such as connecting the unconnected; the converging digital world; the economic and financial aspects and models for the emerging digital ecosystem among others giving a platform to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the region. Telecommunication/ICT policy makers, regulators, industry, and consumer associations will have the opportunity to share information, knowledge, and experiences. 

Workshop on business modeling for 5G and new technologies
 
The workshop on 5G and new technologies for digital Africa will explore in detail and provides hands-on knowledge on nascent technologies including 5G and explore the perquisite policy and economic requirements for the advancement of the digital economy in Africa. 

Who should attend?
 
RED-AFR19 and Workshop is open to all the ITU Member States in Africa and specifically to experts responsible on ICT regulatory, economics, finance and business strategy in Ministries, regulatory authorities, private sector, regional and international organization, consumer associations and academia.

Language; Both the Dialogue and training workshop shall be conducted in English and French​
