Bangladesh Women in IT and Bangladesh Open Source Network​

Bangladesh Celebrated 'Girls in ICT Day" with online progarmming contest, training workshops, open house day in diferent IT companies, ICT Career fair for girls, Career Seminar, quiz competition and awarness campaign. The 10 days celebration concluded with experience sharing, learning the opportunities in global and local ICT industries and prize giving to the winners of the online programming contest.

From 21 to 29th April more than 100 girls and younng women visited countries top ranked ICT companies including Microsoft Bangladesh, Grameen Phone, Graphic People, d-net, Bording Vista, Digicon Technologies, BRAC IT services limited and Samsung Research and Development Institution. Among them Tasnim Dewan Orin, Farhana Sharmin, Nuzhat Ashraf and Meskat Jahan shared their experience in the closing ceremony of the Girls in ICT Day programme. On the concluding day tw seminar on the opportunities for girls and young in the global and local ICT industries were also held. Girls and young female graduates learn the oppotunities and the skill required to take ICT career path in the adjacant ICT Career fair organized paralley with the Seminars. Meantime, 300 KM away from the capaital, hundreds of high school girls gathered in an auditorium to know their future options of prosperity. 

The closing ceremnony was addressed by eminent educationalist Professor Mohammad Kaikobad, the chairman of the Board of Trustee of University of Asia Pacific Mr Quiyum Reza howdhury, President of Bangladesh Women in IT and the Chairperson of Dohatec New Media Ms Luna S Doha, General Secretary of Bangladesh Open Source Network Mr Munir Hasan and Coordinaor of the  Girls in ICT Programme in Bangladesh Ms Kaniz Fatema.

The 10 days programme in 4 Districts reached 1500 girls, students and and young women and spread the word f ICT in career. The programme was sponsored by the online technical news portal techsohor.com (www.techsohor.com), online Job portal Chakri dot com and University of Asia Pacific. Internet Society of Bangladesh, Daffodil International University, Freelance IT Academy, Dinajpur IT Solution and Rangpur Random Dots help the execution of the programme.
