Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R)  
Fixed and Mobile Services Division (FMD)

The Fixed and Mobile Services Division is responsible for:

  • the examination of notices/submissions for frequency assignments and allotments concerning terrestrial services (except LF/MF and VHF/UHF broadcasting services) and the formulation of the corresponding findings;
  • the maintenance of the frequency allotment plans of Appendices AP25, AP26 and AP27 to the Radio Regulations (maritime mobile and aeronautical mobile services) and the Regional Agreements GE85 for the maritime radionavigation, the maritime mobile and the aeronautical radionavigation services;
  • the allocation of means of identification (call signs, maritime identification digits) for stations in all radiocommunication services and the maintenance of the ITU-R Global Administration Data base (GLAD) for information on administrations and geographical areas including such allocations;
  • providing assistance to administrations with respect to the regulatory and administrative procedures applicable to all terrestrial non-broadcasting services.
