Niels Guenther

Senior Portfolio Manager

UNOPS

Niels joined the United Nations in 2002, serving in various senior roles at multiple locations, including Kosovo, Italy, Switzerland, Jordan, Iraq, Myanmar, Yemen and the United States. Experienced in operations, project management, trust fund administration, and partner and donor relations, he worked mainly within UNOPS (e.g. Deputy Director of Jordan/Iraq office, Fund Director of 3DF and 3MDG Fund in Myanmar, and Programme Director of UNOPS Yemen) but was also on loan to various other UN System partners (e.g. WFP, UNAMI, UNDP, and more recently three years with the Special Envoy for Yemen as part of the Secretariat's Department of Political Affairs). In his current role as Senior Portfolio Manager, he manages a global portfolio of projects supporting technology and innovation with various UN and non-UN partners. Prior to his career with the UN, Niels worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a management consultant focusing on eCommerce and Procurement (strategy, processes, systems) in the private sector in Europe.​
