Dr. Grant Kirkman

Dr Grant Anthony Kirkman is a development economist and climate finance specialist with 36 years of experience across the United Nations system, private sector and scientific research. He currently leads country and private-sector climate finance engagement, supporting developing countries in designing finance strategies, investment pipelines and access pathways to multilateral climate funds. His work spans Africa, Asia, small island developing States and fragile contexts, with regular engagement with ministries of finance and environment, multilateral development banks, regional development banks, climate funds, commercial banks and institutional investors. Before joining the UN, Grant worked in sustainable finance, business resilience, manufacturing, mergers and acquisitions, environmental due diligence and ICT-enabled infrastructure planning, and was a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. He brings to the Task Force practical expertise in financial mechanisms, blended finance, guarantees, bonds, results-based finance, project pipelines, intergovernmental processes, carbon markets, sustainable finance standards, and digital and geospatial analytics in various sectors and industries.
