Abstract :

This contribution presents China's experience in promoting both 'AI-enabled accessibility', where AI is used to reduce ICT accessibility barriers, and 'accessible AI', where AI-enabled services are designed to remain accessible to persons with disabilities, older persons and persons with specific needs. It reviews relevant policy, standards, implementation and evaluation practices, including real-user testing and selected AI-enabled service cases. Based on these experiences, the contribution highlights accessibility by design, real-user and task-based evaluation, appropriate fallback mechanisms and progressive implementation according to national circumstances.
