Abstract :

This contribution was initially intended for Question 4/1 from the previous study period.
This submission provided support to the topic under Q4/1 which considers the impact of financial technologies, particularly mobile money services on economic performance. The study tries to provide for econometric evidence on the benefits of mobile money services on macroeconomic variables adding onto the vast qualitative evidence on this subject. The results show that the values of mobile money transactions have a positive impact on GDP, requiring increased promotion of the usage of mobile money services.
