Travel
The amount of GHG emissions generated on site will be reduced as far as possible. However, certain emissions – such as those associated with travel, which is responsible for the greater part of the overall footprint – remain unavoidable.
What we do
WTDC-25 promotes low-carbon travel options for all delegates. ITU staff travel emissions will be offset as part of the annual Greenhouse Gas inventory. Participants are encouraged to use direct flights, economy class, or other low-emission means of transport when possible. Official shuttles and local e-mobility services further support sustainable travel throughout Baku.
What you can do
All delegates are encouraged to choose the most environmentally friendly way to come to the event. If travelling by air, this would mean booking the flight with the least CO2 emissions (i.e. most direct route, economy class). Delegates are also encouraged to offset their flight emissions. Emissions generated by air travel can be calculated using tools such as ICAO’s carbon emissions calculator and offset via UNFCCC’s climate neutral now platform.
