Methodology Calculate as:
Numerator: mass of pollutant collected (μg).
Denominator: volume of air sampled (m ).
3
Report as annual mean concentration for each pollutant.
Unit μg / m 3

SDG Reference(s) SDG Target 11.6: By 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact
of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality, municipal and other
waste management.
SDG Indicator 11.6.2: Annual mean levels of fine particulate matter (e.g., PM2.5
and PM10) in cities (population weighted).
Verification Check data sources.
Guidance
Check if values reported are in ppm or ppb.
3
If reported in ppm convert to ug/m with following formulas:
NO (nitrogen dioxide) : For ppm multiply by 1900
2
For ppb multiply by 1.9
SO (sulphur dioxide) : For ppm multiply by 2620
2
For ppb multiply by 2.62
O (ozone) : For ppm multiply by 1960
3
For ppb multiply by 1.96
NOTE:
Many times, cities will enter in only the actual value in the numerator which should
be transposed into the final result.
