Ålesund is situated in a relatively stable climatic region, with only a small minority of its inhabitants
living in a zone subject to natural hazards. Even though the region’s exposure to extreme natural events
is limited, and risk and vulnerability plans for disaster mitigation exist, it is recommended that Ålesund
brings its existing assessments and plans in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction
(DRR) 2015–2030, which focuses on the implementation of the following elements:
a) city infrastructures and systems available for resilience;
