Turning digital technology innovation into climate action

implementation efforts. There will also be a global stocktake every five years to assess the
collective progress towards achieving the purpose of the agreement and to inform further Chapter 1
individual actions by Parties. Some of the key aspects of the Agreement are as follows:
                   • Global peaking and 'climate neutrality' (Art. 4)

                   • Mitigation (Art. 4)

                   • Sinks and reservoirs (Art.5)

                   • Voluntary cooperation/Market- and non-market-based approaches (Art. 6)
                   • Adaptation (Art. 7)

                   • Loss and damage (Art. 8)

                   • Finance, technology and capacity-building support (Art. 9, 10 and 11)

                   • Transparency (Art. 13), implementation and compliance (Art. 15)
                   • Global Stocktake (Art. 14)

The key areas in which ICTs can effectively address climate change are monitoring, mitigation
and adaptation. Some examples of ICT-use to address climate change include: remote sensing for
monitoring of natural disasters; improved communications to help deal with natural disasters more
effectively; and satellite and surface-based remote sensors for long-term environmental observation.
These and other examples will be linked within this report.
