Big Data for Measuring the Information Society

ITU Big Data Project

The ITU project 'Big Data for Measuring the Information Society' is exploring ways of using big data from the ICT industry to improve and complement existing statistics and methodologies to measure the information society.

By drawing lessons from the experiences of pilot countries, the project will demonstrate how big data can be used for ICT measurement. Ultimately, the project aims to enhance the quality and timeliness of ICT statistics in order to improve the evidence base for decision-making of ICT policy makers and investors.
