 Tutorial Workshop on IPv6
 Geneva, 06 May 2002 Contact: tsbworkshops@itu.int
Introduction
The purpose of this tutorial workshop was to provide information to facilitate discussion on the requirements for the successful global implementation of the Internet Protocol, version 6 (IPv6). The IPv6 protocol is the successor of the current IP routing protocol, called Ipv4. The size of the addressing field in Ipv6 is greatly expanded over that of IPv4, permitting many more devices to be directly addressed than is the case today. IPv6 also provides security features not available today. The workshop discussed the reasons for migrating to IPv6, the costs and benefits involved, the issues associated with the migration, and provided ideas for solution to those issues.
