Background
The Third Meeting of the HLEG of the GCA took place on 26 June 2008 in room
B1, ITU Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland. This meeting was open only to Members
of the HLEG.

Objectives of the Meeting Agree
upon the set of recommendations on all
five work areas to be presented to ITU Secretary-General.

In preparation for the Third Meeting:
Work area leaders agreed to revise the current
versions of each strategic report in light of the discussions between HLEG
members until 10 June 2008.
HLEG members are invited to send their comments
on the recommendations by 15 June 2008.
Strategic reports and recommendations will be distributed to all HLEG members by
20 June 2008.
The Work of HLEG
The HLEG work is an ongoing dynamic process with information-sharing and
interaction relating to the elaboration of Global Strategies to meet the goals
of the GCA and the ITU role as sole facilitator for WSIS Action Line C.5.
The expected deliverables will be five strategic reports, with a final
consolidated report – a global strategic report delivered to the ITU
Secretary-General and a set of recommendations on how best to achieve the seven
strategic goals of the GCA and to best provide an appropriate response to WSIS
Action Line C5.

The Second Meeting of
the High-Level Experts Group (HLEG) took place on 21 May 2008 in room K2,
ITU Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.
The First Meeting of
the High-Level Experts Group (HLEG) took place at the ITU Headquarters in
Geneva on 5 October 2007.
