Title Subregional Telecommunication Meeting for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam
Description One of the major outcomes from the World Telecommunication Development Conference (Doha, 2006) is the identification of 5 Regional Initiatives for the Asia-Pacific Region. This project is linked to the Regional Initiative on Telecommunication/ICT Policy and Regulatory Cooperation in the Asia Pacific region which aims to assist Member Countries in the region through enhanced cooperation and strengthened regional presence to develop various policy and regulatory skills and frameworks, enhance interconnectivity and interoperability within and among Asia-Pacific member countries and establish mechanisms to link ITU and telecommunication/ICT policy makers from Asia-Pacific region for sharing and exchanging information, experiences and best practices.
This project provides a forum where high level and senior officials from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam discuss, share experiences and practices on areas of common concerns and come up with recommendations and action plans to consider for implementation in said countries. This forum has also attracted telecommunication/ICT service providers in these countries to organize at their own expense their own business forum immediately before the Subregional Meeting where they present views and recommendations on certain policy/regulatory area to policy makers and regulators from CLMV.
