Strengthening the capacity for the implementation of the multi-regional EU funded projects

In recent years ITU has been negotiating and signing a number of large-scale projects with the European Commission. In the period between 2024 and 2026, ITU is expected to implement a total contribution of EUR 8.2 million received in 3 projects of multi-regional nature offering the opportunities to provide support to all countries, in particular LDCs, LLDC, SIDs and economies in transition.  

Effective implementation of these projects is crucial for further scale up of strategic cooperation with the European Commission under the Global Gateway initiative. Current capacities of support services appear not to guarantee efficient roll out of projects. It will likely create a bottleneck for the timely implementation of the large-scale envelope of projects and potential risk of reputational loss. 

The objective of this project is to strengthen ITU’s capacity in implementing impactful and large-scale projects in partnership with the European Commission.
