Title Set up IPv6 and IoT Expertise Center
Description The main goal of the project is to assist Member States by supporting smooth and well managed transition from IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) to IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) for Internet of Things (IoT)  by appropriated infrastructure, services and applications deployments, raising awareness through conducting  technical assistance, trainings and/or  workshops on the above mentioned issues.

Achievements

The project was partially completed and officially closed:

-The project established one Centre at Malaysia University Science and Technology (MUST), Malaysia.  Unfortunately, due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, it was not possible to install other IPv6 & loT Expertise Centers, and the project was closed with only a partial achievement of results.

- Assisted countries in transforming from IPv4 to IPv6 and loT systems remained limited. 22 countries received partial assistance. 

- In total 200 Engineers and Professionals have been trained and certified on loT Systems; from IPv4 to IPv6, Industry 4.0; IPv6 over 5G in partnership with MUST.

- The project was only partially implemented due to the complexity of the activities and to the challenges in implementation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In view of the challenges, the steering committee decided

not to extend the project beyond the end date.
