ITU-R has published several Recommendations and Reports related to Terrestrial Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting Systems (Recommendations ITU-R BT.1833 and ITU-R BT.2016, Reports ITU-R BT.2049 and ITU-R BT.2295). One newly included system is the LTE-based 5G Terrestrial Broadcast System, referred to as TMMB System-L in the relevant ITU-R publications, developed and specified as part of the general mobile communication technology of 3GPP. This is expected to help integrating the system in smartphones and tablets.
Besides the system parameters, proponents of TMMB System L in WP 6A have contributed on network planning and implementation of the system in the sub-700 MHz band, including compatibility with existing DTTB systems. Related Reports are being developed on this subject.
The workshop aims at presenting the ongoing studies on the network and frequency planning aspects of TMMB System L, including cases studies in some countries.
