Exhibition
The exhibition covers over 7000sqm of net floor space, showcasing proven
solutions and promising prospects from the African region and around the world.
Participants include well established and leading providers as well as exciting
industry newcomers who bring to AFRICA products and services that encompass a
broad span of the ICT industry. Expect operators, regulators, manufacturers,
ISPs, infrastructure and software providers, as well as banking, finance and
other supportive sectors crucial to the industry. The largest individual
stands include: Alcatel-Lucent; Alkan CIT; Arabsat; Energya Telecom Solutions;
Ericsson; ERTU; Etisalat; Huawei Technologies; KT; Telecom Egypt; ZTE.
National Pavilions include those of China, Egypt, Korea and Nigeria.

Forum
The theme for this year’s event is ICTs in Africa: A
Continent on the Move. The Forum brings together key
stakeholders from a mix of related domains. Policy makers,
regulators, operators, service and product providers, and other
leading thinkers come together under an agenda of reviewing the
wealth of opportunities that the region presents, as well as the
challenges. The primary Forum for ITU TELECOM AFRICA 2008
contemplates 120 speakers from 38 countries and 9 international
organizations.

About ITU TELECOM Events
ITU TELECOM AFRICA is one of a global portfolio of ITU TELECOM
events, held in each of the key regions of the world as a platform
for government and industry to exchange ideas, knowledge and
progress in technology for the benefit of all. Organized by the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU), these events feature a
combined exhibition and associated Forum where policy-makers,
innovators and leading figures of the industry examine key policy
and development issues, discuss strategies for development and chart
the future of telecommunication. ITU's unique position as an
inclusive international organization whose membership include
government and regulators as well as private sector, enables it to
bring together the global communications community for the ITU
TELECOM events. |
