JEEViKA Mobile Vaani

Description

Gram Vaani has been running a phone based media platform (using interactive voice response service/ IVRS) that fulfills information needs of rural women on maternal dietary diversity and complementary feeding practices. Known as JEEViKA Mobile Vaani, this free audio platform works over a missed call, i.e. users give a missed call to a promoted phone number, and receive a callback from the server on which they can listen to relevant content uploaded on the platform and thoughts/opinions/ feedback shared by other users, or share their own viewpoints for others to listen. Being implemented in partnership with the Project Concern International (PCA) and the Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society, BRLPS, India (popularly known as JEEViKA, which currently reaches out to 9 million households across the state of Bihar); the project, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, targets a population of 10,000 women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the district of Nalanda and has been accessed by more than 30,000 women till now.
