Rules and Guidelines

  • All projects must be submitted through the online questionnaire.
  • Each project must be submitted under only one WSIS Action Line category (out of 18).
  • The same project may not be submitted twice.
  • All requested fields in the submission form must be completed according to the template. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Minimum word counts in the questionnaire must be respected.
  • Submitted projects should be completed or at the end of a major phase, demonstrating measurable social, economic, cultural, or environmental impact.
  • The Short Description must contain 150–200 words and will be used for public online voting. It should clearly describe the project, highlight the ICT component, and present its impact in an engaging way.
  • Additional information requested in the submission form includes:
    • Linkages between the project, WSIS Action Line, and relevant SDGs, GDC Objectives
    • Qualitative and quantitative impact
    • Project partnership activities
    • Key challenges and future perspectives
  • Submission deadlines are strict. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Projects must be submitted in English.
  • Projects that have previously won a WSIS Prize are not eligible.

  1. Submissions must comply with the Submission Phase rules. All fields should provide detailed information on project goals, timeframe, added value, results, and challenges.
  2. The project must demonstrate relevance to the selected WSIS Action Line as referenced in the Geneva Plan of Action.
  3. Project descriptions should clearly demonstrate:
    • Results achieved and impact generated
    • Contribution to community empowerment
    • Relevance to SDGs
    • Potential for replication
    • Sustainability of the project
    • Development of partnerships
    • Promotion of WSIS values

  1. Public online voting identifies the five projects per category with the highest number of valid stakeholder appreciations. Voting results are considered as one input into the overall evaluation process.
  2. Only registered members of the WSIS Stocktaking Platform with complete information (organization name, type, country, and user details) may vote.
  3. Each registered stakeholder may vote for one project per category. All votes are weighted equally.
  4. Voting is encouraged in all categories but not mandatory.
  5. Focal points of submitted projects will be notified of voting progress at the end of each week.
  6. WSIS Stocktaking reserves the right to review and validate voting results to ensure fairness and compliance with the Rules and Guidelines.
  7. WSIS Stocktaking may use the organization details submitted by stakeholders for purposes related to the WSIS Prizes process.
