ONLINE SERVICES PORTAL: SELF-MANAGEMENT PLATFORM


Description

The Online Services Portal implemented by our software development team is a key project in the digital transformation, aligned with the computerization of Cuban society and the government's push toward digitalization. This self-service platform allows customers to independently manage their contracted services from any device, facilitating functions such as invoice inquiries, account statements, and online payments.

The project utilizes an agile methodology (Scrum) that enabled iterative development focused on user needs. The result: a functional, secure, accessible web portal and mobile application with a user-friendly interface. Thanks to these digital solutions, dependence on in-person processes was reduced, as operational efficiency increased and the burden on traditional customer service channels decreased.
This approach to digitalization, by promoting self-service management, contributed to the sustainability of development through the efficient use of technological and human resources. The implementation of this platform highlights the impact of Information Technologies on improving the user experience and on the digital transformation of the telecommunications sector, strengthening the country's economic, political and social development.

This is due to its flexible architecture, the use of modern technologies, and its user-centric approach. The system addresses common challenges faced by organizations managing large volumes of customers and needing to digitize processes to improve efficiency, service quality, and service availability.
In the telecommunications sector, this solution can be adopted by companies facing similar challenges in managing inquiries, service payments, contract modifications, and large-scale customer service. Self-service portals optimize customer service processes, reduce the operational burden on sales offices, and offer services available at any time, significantly improving the user experience.
Likewise, the model can be applied to public utility companies such as electricity, water, gas, or transportation providers, where large numbers of users also need to view bills, make payments, or manage their services. Adopting digital platforms would contribute to improved operational efficiency and facilitate citizen access to these services. The project can also be implemented in government institutions and public agencies as part of digital government strategies, since online portals streamline administrative procedures, reduce waiting times, and strengthen transparency and efficiency in public administration.
From a technological standpoint, replication is feasible thanks to the use of widely adopted tools such as React, Python, .NET Core, and Oracle, as well as the modular architecture approach and Single Application Platforms (SAPs), which allows for platform adaptation and the incorporation of new functionalities.
In short, the Online Services Portal has broad potential for replication across various sectors, contributing to the modernization of services, the strengthening of digital infrastructure, and an improved user experience.


Sustainability

The Online Services Portal and its mobile application is a sustainable project that generates economic, technological, social, and environmental benefits by promoting a more efficient, user-centered digital management model.
From an economic perspective, the platform reduces operating costs by decreasing the need for in-person service at branch offices. Customers can make inquiries, payments, and service modifications online, optimizing the use of human resources and simplifying administrative processes. Furthermore, the automation of operations, such as accounting and financial reconciliation, improves institutional control and efficiency.
In terms of technology, the system is based on a modern and scalable architecture that utilizes tools such as React, Python, .NET Core, and Oracle. These technologies enable the platform's continuous evolution, facilitating the incorporation of new functionalities and its adaptation to changes in the digital environment. The use of open-source software components also contributes to technological independence and reduced maintenance costs.
From a social perspective, the portal promotes digital inclusion by allowing access to services from anywhere, at any time. This eliminates geographical barriers, facilitates customer self-service, and improves the user experience, strengthening the relationship between the company and the community.
From an environmental perspective, the digitization of processes reduces paper use and decreases travel to offices, thus contributing to a reduction in the environmental impact associated with transportation and the consumption of physical resources.
Overall, the project is based on a continuous improvement model that allows for the updating of technologies, the incorporation of new services, and a response to the evolving needs of customers, establishing itself as a sustainable solution that drives digital transformation.


WSIS values promotion

The Online Services Portal is a software development project that contributes to building a people-centered information society, in accordance with the principles of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the ongoing computerization of Cuban society. Regarding access to information, the platform allows users to consult invoices, account statements, and details of their services at any time and from various devices. This promotes transparent access to information and empowers citizens to have greater control over the services they use. The project also fosters digital inclusion, as its web portal and mobile application enable more people to manage their services without having to visit physical offices, helping to reduce the digital divide and facilitating access to technological services. Furthermore, it impacts efficiency and social development, since the digitization of processes reduces in-person procedures, shortens waiting times, and optimizes service management, thus improving both the user experience and the functioning of the telecommunications sector. From a responsibility and sustainability perspective, the portal promotes the efficient use of technological and human resources, reduces paper consumption, and decreases the need for travel, contributing to a more sustainable development model. By implementing it nationwide, it also strengthens citizen participation and empowerment, as it allows customers to manage their services independently using digital tools. Furthermore, as a technological innovation project, the use of agile methodologies such as Scrum facilitated the development of secure, functional, and user-centered solutions. In short, the Online Services Portal modernizes the management of telecommunications services and promotes essential values of the information society, such as access to knowledge, digital inclusion, efficiency, sustainability, and citizen participation, contributing to the digital transformation process and social development in Cuba.
