Smart Vision Glasses for Visually Impaired using Computer Vision , Machine Learning and Artificial Inteligence

SMART VISION Glasses is an affordable, assistive device for the visually impaired to enable them a dignified and independent life. The device is wearable attached to the side of a pair of eyeglasses.

The device has an electronic brain (artificial intelligence) which transforms their dark world into a more interactive, interesting and independent world. They can read their favourite book, catch up with the news on magazines and newspapers, students can write their exams without scribes and so such more. They can be independently mobile, cross the road at zebra crossings on their own and be safe on roads. The associated mobile app also enables their near and dear ones to track them.

Globally 1 million people are visually impaired people that could have been prevented or has to be addressed. According to WHO 90% of the visually impaired live in low and middle income group, 44% are aged above 50. Most of them are women and girls. One billion people around the globe are left as uncorrected visually impaired people.

An IIT graduate and a former Navy official, Seetharam Muthangi popularly known as ‘Ramu’, is the CEO and co-founder of Smart Health Global (SHG) Technologies who has developed ‘Smart Vision Glasses’ – an artificial intelligence-enriched assistive device that helps people with visual disabilities identify objects and people, gauge distance, detect currency, read books and manuscripts in Indian regional languages, among other things. His tech Innovation is not only helping Visionary Cause across India but also across the globe.

This Bengaluru based entrepreneur was recently recognised by Infosys Foundation the Aarohan Social Innovation Awards 2023 in Education category for creating pathbreaking solutions for social good, benefiting the underprivileged in India.

Seetharam Muthangis work experience spans over 35 years. It is predominantly in the design of systems for the Navy, Communications Product design, Aerospace Engineering and now in AI and ML. "Of the 40 million people across the globe who are blind, over 18 million are from India. There are 258 million people who are partially blind. Vision impairment has huge impact on one’s life. It severely impacts quality of life among adult populations.

Ms.Shivapriya is a Technical Project Manager at SHG Technologies Pvt. Ltd. INDIA. Currently working for Capacity Building and Digital Literacy to empower Blind and low vision, Pwds. She implemented GDPR across 27 EU countries for Schneider electric. Her Design document for converged and hyper converged Infrastructure, Dell Technologies as a Communication device architect was exceptional. She pioneered in digital transformation for Startups and Women Entrepreneurship at Cisco. She is a good orator and public Speaker. She recently attended Empower- 2023, related to Assistive Technology product and services. It is a annual gathering at IIT Madras research Park, Chennai, India. She holds her Bachelors in Science Specialization in  Electronics and Telecom Engineering.
