This workshop series highlights the effects that the coronavirus pandemic has had on the work of various WSIS Stakeholders, whilst showcasing the role that ICT’s have played in developing solutions towards the unique issues the pandemic presents.

Panellists
Mr. George Ulmann
Mr. George Ulmann COO & Partnerships Director MedShr

George started working in healthcare and life sciences initially as a consultant supporting pharmaceutical companies bring new products to market. At Monitor Deloitte, he specialised in product commercialisation, including pre-launch and post-launch education and marketing strategies.

George was a founding team member at MedShr, an app and network for doctors. There are now over 1,500,000 doctors using MedShr to share, discuss and learn from each other in a secure, professional network. He’s had a number of roles at MedShr from Head of Growth to Head of Product. George is now COO and heads up MedShr’s partnership division. He leads MedShr education work across Cardiology, COVID-19 and wider global health issues.

Before starting his career, George studied science and engineering at University of Cambridge where he attained 1st class honours. Subsequently, he attended The Judge Business School (Cambridge). Beyond medicine, he has a keen interest in education, having built an education agency supporting disadvantaged but able students to get places and funding to study at Oxford and Cambridge.


Ms. Peace Kuteesa
Ms. Peace Kuteesa Co-Founder Zimba Women

Peace N. Kuteesa is the co-founder Zimba Women which provides tools and technology platforms, business training and mentorship for women-led SME's enabling them to manage and scale their businesses in Africa.

She is also a board member of the Bluenumber Foundation a US based organization whose mission is to change how people and organizations own, manage and benefit from use of their digital identity and data.

Peace has previously worked on technical IT projects for international organizations like U.S Mission Uganda, World Bank and United Nations for over 10 years. She is a Gender and Digital Transformation Expert.

A Computer Engineer passionate about integration of Cybersecurity and Digitalization’s effect on Innovations in business, she is a member of the Africa List, International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals, 2019 Paris Global Women in Tech Awards winner ,2018 Uganda Women4Women Awards and 2017 Young Achievers Awards Uganda Winner; her goal is Inspiring more women to pursue STEM and Entrepreneurial careers

 


Mr. Vijay Sai Pratap
Mr. Vijay Sai Pratap Co-Founder and CEO Gram Vaani

Vijay is co-founder and CEO of Gram Vaani (OnionDev Technologies Pvt Ltd), a social tech enterprise that builds innovative voice-based community media technologies for the underserved, with a mission to reverse the flow of information. Working closely with communities and partners across sectors, Gram Vaani has touched over 2.5 million individuals, enabling them to not just access and share life impacting information, but also voice their opinions or ask questions. A Telecom and Technology for Development professional for over 17 years, Vijay is an Engineering graduate from the University of Madras and holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, AP) and Business law (National Law School of India Univ, Bangalore). Vijay is an Acumen India 2020 fellow.


Mr. Ali Mazraeh
Mr. Ali Mazraeh Founder and CEO Arabic Digital Reform Institute (ADRI)

Ali is the founder and CEO of the Arabic Digital Reform Institute (ADRI), an Edutech company from New Zealand and Bahran. His 7 years journey with ADRI involved setting up the teams and process, building the solutions and taking that to the market, where it's currently trading a multi-million dollar revenue per annum. The primary problem that Ali and his team in ADRI resolving is the often high cost and efforts involved in knowledge translation into the Arabic language. ADRI has been able to reduce the translation costs to a fraction of the common practices while doing so with a scale of hundreds of pages per day. ADRI's value is primarily generated from the technologies they employ, including AI, Automation and Machine Learning. Ali is an Enterprise Architect by trade and carries a Master of Strategic Studies from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand."


Mr. Antonio Fernández Anta
Mr. Antonio Fernández Anta Research Professor IMDEA Networks Institute

Antonio Fernández Anta is Research Professor at IMDEA Networks. Previously he was a on the Faculty of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), where he received a research performance award. He was a postdoc at MIT (1995-1997), and spent sabbatical years at Bell Labs and MIT Media Lab. He has been awarded the Premio Nacional de Informatica "Aritmel" in 2019 and is Mercator Fellow of the SFB MAKI in Germany since 2018. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Louisiana. He is a Senior Member of ACM and IEEE.
