Strong communication networks build a platform for the exchange of ideas and market information, thus supporting the sustainability of rural producing communities. Fairtrade ANZ’s ICT pilot project sought to link the supply chains of eight Fairtrade co-operatives in PNG through a range of interventions including the provision of laptops and associated trainings provided by PNG’s University of Technology. Participants reported the benefits of the tailored trainings which position their co-operatives to function with greater efficiency, specifically in regards to record keeping, recording and preparing meeting minutes as well as writing budgets and reports.
