International Girls in ICT Day 2019, New York City International Girls in Information Communications and Technology (ICT) Day (see ITU website) aims to encourage and empower girls and young women around the globe to consider studies and careers in the growing field of ICTs, enabling both girls, young women, technology companies and UN Agencies to gain the benefits of greater female participation in the ICT sector. Even the underlying definitions of ICT are changing as all so much of our innovation and progress across all spheres of life depend on ICT today. Our Event Girls and young women will meet women technologists from United Nations organizations, NGOs, the private sector and academia. The goal is to inspire and encourage girls and young women’s interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) by meeting dynamic role models. The session will focus on group discussion and activities on themes behind International Girls in ICT Day.
