65. We commit ourselves to strengthening cooperation to seek
common responses to the challenges and to the implementation of the Plan of
Action, which will realize the vision of an inclusive Information Society
based on the Key Principles incorporated in this Declaration.
66. We further commit ourselves
to evaluate and follow up progress in bridging the digital divide, taking into
account different levels of development, so as to reach internationally agreed
development goals, including those contained in the Millennium Declaration, and to assess the
effectiveness of investment and international cooperation efforts in building
the Information Society.
67. We are firmly convinced that we are collectively entering
a new era of enormous potential, that of the Information Society and expanded
human communication. In this emerging society, information and knowledge can be
produced, exchanged, shared and communicated through all the networks of the
world. All individuals can soon, if we take the necessary actions, together
build a new Information Society based on shared knowledge and founded on global
solidarity and a better mutual understanding between peoples and nations. We
trust that these measures will open the way to the future development of a true
knowledge society.
