INFINITY – Project
West Africa

- Infinity will construct a fiber-optic
sub-sea cable communications network to provide
inter- and intra-regional bandwidth services,
termination services and national and
international interconnection services.
- Infinity will then extend its broadband
network locally, through purchases of
terrestrial fiber and wireless deployment, to
offer retail services in targeted cities.

ICTs for
socio-economic development of Pacific Island States
Description |
ICT4PIS |
- Enhancement and development of low cost,
reliable infrastructure and migration to new
technologies and services including training of
selected end-users and back-up in case of
communications failure;
- Establishment of a wide range of
community-owned and sustainable multipurpose
community telecentres (MCTs), as the main
vehicle for the delivery of identified societal
ICT services;
- Design of a policy framework including
capacity building, cybersecurity, ICTs and
regulatory matters;
- Improvement of basic ICT literacy and human
capacity development in ICTs;
- Development of regional disaster emergency
communications package to be transportable and
easily deployable to any country concerned in
the Pacific Islands including training of
selected end-users.

ICT Policy and Regulation Capacity Building for
Pacific Islands States (ICB4PIS)

The project fulfils the needs expressed by the PIS
concerned in the domains of capacity building on ICT
policies and regulations in one hand and of
e-readiness in the other hand. It aims at building
human and institutional capacity in the field of ICT
through a range of targeted training, education and
knowledge sharing measures, as well as developing
background material for possible harmonized policies
for the ICT market.
The project will address the policy and e-readiness
challenges facing the beneficiary countries with the
goal of creating an environment where the human
capacity will encourage investments in the ICT
infrastructure and ICT-enabled applications which
the countries will adopt for day to day use in their
economic and social activities.

Harmonization of ICT
Policies for Caribbean Countries
Timeline and cost |
HIPCAR |
The Caribbean Harmonization Project is designed to
assist Caribbean countries in improving their
competitiveness by harmonizing approaches to ICT
development. It will bring together Caribbean
governments, regulators, service providers, civil
society, private sector, regional and international
organizations involved in ICT. The project will
provide guidelines for harmonized policies,
legislation, technical matters and regulatory
procedures and processes.
Funding will be provided by the EU and the ITU. The
project will also take into consideration the
objectives of the Caribbean Single Market and
Economy which promotes harmonization throughout all
CARICOM countries. |
