and privately. Furthermore, HIBA’s AI-driven insights help public health authorities identify gaps
in health literacy and emerging health trends, informing more inclusive healthcare policies.
HIBA ensures equitable access to health information, particularly for marginalized populations.
By providing accurate, evidence-based health messaging, the chatbot empowers users with 4.1-Healthcare
preventive healthcare knowledge, reducing reliance on overburdened healthcare systems. It
also facilitates early identification of health concerns, enabling timely medical interventions.
HIBA functions as an AI-driven educational tool for health literacy. By using interactive Q&A,
multilingual content, and speech-based engagement, it ensures that people with low literacy
levels or disabilities can access relevant, understandable health information. Additionally, it
supports continuous learning for community health workers and volunteers.
By targeting underserved populations in LMICs, HIBA reduces health disparities caused
by socioeconomic and linguistic barriers. The AI-driven chatbot removes stigma, enabling
individuals - especially women and refugees - to access trusted health guidance anonymously
and privately. Furthermore, HIBA’s AI-driven insights help public health authorities identify gaps
in health literacy and emerging health trends, informing more inclusive healthcare policies.
23 Future Work
Future development of HIBA will focus on two key areas: enhanced AI model development
and new variations for broader impact.
• Enhanced AI Capabilities for Nuanced Understanding: We'll significantly improve HIBA's
AI, focusing on natural language processing (NLP) to accurately understand regional
dialects and complex medical queries in Arabic and other underrepresented languages.
This includes integrating sentiment analysis and emotional AI to detect user distress and
adapt responses for better mental health support, alongside implementing adaptive
learning for continuous self-improvement in accuracy and relevance [12].
• Broader Impact through Localized Deployment: Our goal is to create localized HIBA
versions tailored to specific linguistic and cultural groups (e.g., Kurdish, Sudanese Arabic)
with relevant health messaging. This will enable deployment in humanitarian and crisis
settings like refugee camps, where health information is critical and access to professional
care is limited.
• Strategic Growth through Technology and Collaboration: We plan to upgrade our
technology infrastructure with cloud solutions and real-time analytics for robust
performance. This will be supported by ongoing data collection and dataset creation
of validated, localized health content. Crucially, we'll actively seek collaborations with
public health authorities, humanitarian organizations, and AI research labs to co-develop
features, share resources, and expand our pilot programs globally.
3 Use Case Requirements
• REQ-01: It is critical that a multilingual STT/TTS engine (Arabic, English, French + 25 other
languages supported) and a geographically determined multilingual conversational flow
are incorporated into the system.
• REQ-02: It is critical that ethical guidelines be followed to prevent diagnostic/treatment
guidance
• REQ-03: It is expected that there is a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)-
compliant infrastructure and WhatsApp API integration
• REQ-04: It is critical that there is a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) framework
with a vector database integrated
