                      21 Description

CareVia is an AI-powered behavior recognition solution designed to support individuals with
developmental disabilities. In South Korea, many people with autism spectrum disorders
face significant safety risks due to a lack of sufficient care infrastructure. The leading cause of
death among individuals with severe autism is accidents, and most care centers are critically
                      understaffed.

CareVia uses SK Telecom’s Vision AI to detect and analyze challenging behaviors, such as
self-harm, aggression, and wandering. The system automates behavior tracking that was
traditionally recorded manually by caregivers, helping to reduce workload and improve
intervention planning by professionals. The AI runs in real-time on edge devices, utilizing
lightweight models to ensure fast and accurate responses in environments like care centers,
                      hospitals, and special schools.

This solution is the first of its kind in Korea, tailored specifically to behavioral monitoring for
individuals with developmental disabilities. By automating data collection and offering visual
analytics, it empowers care professionals and families to deliver timely and personalized
support. CareVia has been deployed in 12 centers across South Korea, with the following
                      observed outcomes:

                      Expected Impact

                      1. Enhances safety and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities.
                      2. Reduces administrative burden on caregivers.
                      3. Improves accuracy and speed of intervention planning.
                      4. Behavior tracking workload reduced from ~3 hours to 5 minutes per session.
                      5. AI accuracy of 85%+ in real-time behavior recognition.
                      6. Self-harm incidents decreased by 76.5% [3] after intervention (clinical study with Severance
                           Hospital, 2024).
                      7. Positive feedback from caregivers who report improved documentation, reduced stress,
                           and better intervention planning.

These results were also presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics Conference (Oct
2024) and supported by real-world behavior intervention specialists.
