Image-to-CAD under the name ChatCAD[2]. Our solution is built upon a custom-designed
Domain-Specific Language (DSL) that effectively represents diverse CAD elements across both
2D and 3D environments[3]. This specialized DSL enables precise interpretation of geometric
constraints, material properties, and functional requirements in generative CAD scenarios.
Through a simple conversational Q&A format, it swiftly understands designers' creative
intentions, automatically generating industrial design drawings that meet requirements, and
supports exporting to traditional industrial design software for manual fine-tuning. The DSL
framework demonstrates strong adaptability across multiple CAD domains including PID
process design, architectural planning, and mechanical component design, ensuring consistent
performance in cross-domain applications.
This not only significantly enhances the efficiency and quality of industrial design while lowering
the entry barrier but also promotes the extensive application of large model technology
in upstream industrial production. Currently, this product can be applied in mechanical
component design, reading engineering construction blueprint silhouettes, industrial product
appearance design, electrical design, architectural drawing design, etc., markedly reducing
the entry threshold for industrial design.
Use Case Status: The use case is part of a larger product development and successfully
completed its MVP at the end of 2024, with plans to deploy business applications throughout
2025.

of engineering design software, and help promote the intelligent transformation of China's
infrastructure sector.
2�2 Benefits of the use case
ChatCAD helps enhance the efficiency and quality of industrial design, lowers the barriers to
entry, drives the application of LLM technology in the upstream of industrial production, and
accelerates the intelligent upgrading of industries. By leveraging AI technology, productivity
can be enhanced, enabling designers to iterate design concepts faster, shorten product
development cycles, and bring new products to market earlier. Additionally, as ChatCAD's
applications continue to expand and deepen, it will spawn a series of new intelligent-technology-
based products, services, and business models, opening up new growth opportunities for
economic development
2�3 Future Work
The future plan aims to integrate generative AI technology throughout the entire process of
computer-aided design (CAD) in one or more fields. This involves developing new industrial
design software with three key functionalities: automatic conversion from images to CAD
drawings (Image-to-CAD), autonomous review of CAD drawings (CAD-to-Text), and automatic
generation of CAD drawings from text-based design requirements (Text-to-CAD).
